Sisters of the Holy Names Form New On January 1, 2006, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary formed a new province called the U.S.- Ontario Province. This formation is the union of five of North American provinces: California, Oregon, Washington, New York—and Ontario, Canada. The Holy Names Congregation took this decisive action to strengthen and extend their ministries, as well as to consolidate their resources, ensuring their continued dedication to education well into the future. The total number of members in the U.S.- Ontario Province is 597 Sisters and 406 Associates. The headquarters for the new entity is located at Marylhurst, Oregon. The Sisters and Associates of the province remain dedicated to the full development of the human person through education, social justice, pastoral services, contemplation, the arts, and other related ministries. The province is coordinated by a six-person leadership team whose term of office is five years. The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary are an international Catholic congregation of religious women, founded in Montreal in 1843 by Mother Marie Rose Durocher, and is now comprised of the provinces of Quebec and Manitoba, in Canada, Lesotho in Africa, U.S.- Ontario, and the Mission Sector, including Brazil and Peru.
