Vowed Membership
Following is the process of mutual discernment for becoming a vowed Religious. In the initial inquiry seek information and vocational direction with the Vocation Director. You will be invited to become acquainted with SNJM communities and ministries. A companion sister along with a welcoming community will accompany you as you seek candidacy. When you become a candidate, you take the first formal step of entrance, living for a period, usually one year, in an SNJM community. As a novice, you will spend a two-year period of integration into religious life. The first year focuses on deepening your life of prayer, reflection and learning the way of a vowed life in the SNJM tradition. The second year provides an experience of mission, community life and an opportunity to serve with people who are poor. After you take your temporary vows, you live a vowed commitment for a period of three to six years continuing in the SNJM apostolic lifestyle flowing from the values of poverty, celibacy and obedience. When you are ready for permanent vows, you will choose to make the
vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience for a lifetime within the SNJM
congregation. Ask a Sister! Just fill out the short form below and we will contact you. |
