Ministry Even when "glass ceilings" were the norm for women, Sisters of the Holy Names (SNJM,) went about founding schools, establishing universities, being spiritual companions, and working for peace and justice. Always, SNJMs have collaborated with people who share our Gospel values and our passion for social justice. Such ministries <http://www.snjmusontario.org/where_we_serve.html> remain at the core of our work: they express our values in action. We are teachers and administrators, nurses and doctors, community organizers and counselors, lawyers and lobbyists, musicians and artists, AIDS ministers, hospital and prison chaplains, gardeners and ecologists, spiritual directors, pastoral and campus ministers, social workers and psychologists, missionaries and contemplatives, and passionate advocates for the poor and vulnerable.
Since our foundation, the names of Jesus and Mary have continually given
rise to the living flame of our mission. As we engage the questions of
our day and face them together, we deepen the prophetic sense of our
call.
